Happy Friday everyone ! - or should I be more appropriate and say " Good Friday " to you ! I'm just here at work, tying up some of my own errands, which of course, entails that I write another unnecessary long email about my goings on in DC. This week literally flew by, I think the only thing I can vividly remember is my Tuesday American Idol ! I'm almost at my halfway point here so I have to make the most of it !!!!!
I've been very good, not going to the bars at all, and if I do, only having two drinks. I am trying to bring down my tolerance level to a "normal" amount, and I have proven to myself that I do have will power ! Sober fun is possible = )
Wednesday was absolutely beautiful weather here, about eighty degrees, which means it was waaaaaaaaay too nice to stay inside at work so I took the day off ( yes, they're cool like that ) and went to Georgetown with Jim. It's such a cute and quaint little shopping area, and this man loooooooooves to shop so we hit up all the stores, had a nice lunch, and then pigged out on some ice cream in the sun. By the way, no comments please when I come back about 50 lbs. heavier . . heehee.
Yesterday night me, Jim and a few other girls hit up the gay bar close by which was really nice. I love those places, they're so refreshing, for once we're not getting looked at like a piece of meat ! It's funny though, I always feel like all the little boys in there are just looking and smirking at me and the girls and thinking that we must have no gaydar whatsoever ! There were some cuties in there though ! Argh ! Go figure !!!!!!!!!!!
Yesterday was my pointless seminar class and then I got to have some alone time at the Smithsonian. I admit, I am an addict, I have gone about five times now but yesterday was the best session yet. I got to go for three full hours, I went to the National Gallery of Art and the Natural History Museum. Yes, I am still easily entertained by simple pleasures, heck I spent my whole day off looking at dinosaur bones, insects, african drums, and the exotic gems exhibit ! I have to admit though, I was probably the tallest person in there since there were about half a million schools visiting on Spring Break ! It was the perfect way to spend a cold day in since although only Weds. it was eighty humid degrees, yesterday and today there will be a high of 45 !!!!!!
I have to admit that sometimes I miss LA. I really, honestly, never thought I would say that. But there are some little comforts of home that I miss. So, I am looking forward to an action packed summer of socializing to make up for me being MIA.
In other pretty important news : I WILL BE GOING TO SPAIN FOR FALL !!!!!!!!!!!! Now, I have to admit that while I have been so gung ho about the proposition of going abroad to study, now that I have actually received my acceptance and everything, it is a bit scary. I was accepted through ISA for the Sevilla, Spain program running from Sept. 29 - Dec. 19. Here is the link for the program if you're bored and curious : http://www.studiesabroad.com/Spain/Sevilla.cfm
But yeah, I will be gone again ! It feels really weird to think that I won't be at UCLA for sooooooo long. I mean, I know I really want to do this and I am sure that I will not have any regrets but of course I am forming some anxieties since it is a different country and all ! So, in a nutshell I am excited since basically the next year of my life is full of nothing but good things : summer school in LA with class only Tues. and Thurs., then my moms wedding, a cruise to the Carribean, and then Spain, and of course . . VEGAS trips in between those !
I guess that's about it for now. Nothin' HUGE planned for this weekend . . . yet - heehee
Bye !
Always,
Kristine
