How much does life weigh?

They say we all lose 21 grams at the exact moment of our death... everyone.
The weight of a stack of nickels.
The weight of a chocolate bar.
The weight of a hummingbird...

This is the tag to the movie 21 Grams that comes out on 11/21.. i saw the trailer at "lost in translation" the other day.. its really the only one that i remembered from the years of trailers before the movie.. dunno if i'd see the movie, but the premise of it is intriguing to me... how we lose 21 grams when we die.. so the difference between life and death is 21 grams?
from a scientific/logical standpoint, it doesnt make a whole lot of sense. a beating heart, blood in motion, brain nerves firing electrical signals.. i dont think this could account for the difference in weight... a beating heart would weigh about the same as one that isnt, blood weighs the same whether its moving or not.. electricity doesnt weigh much at all..
from a metaphorical/spiritual standpoint, the spriit/soul that is inside a living individual.. does that weigh 21 grams? last i heard, it has no real substance, so how can it weigh anything?
so what the heck could it mean?
this kinda goes along with jane's grandma, how when she was in the hospital bed she had a head of gray hair.. but when she died her hair was all black...
er? isnt hair just dead skin cells?
weird huh? weird but kewl!

this is why stuff like this is so intriguing.. i love the mystery of stuff that can't be explained with conventional thinking and stuff like that..

anyone have any stories like jane's grandma?
