what started as a 24 hour trip to san diego turned out to be a mini Mendoza vacation of a couple of days. thanks to ron and his family for being so cool and having us over. oh and thanks ron for the interest-free loan!
I've realized that super cool families are a rare breed, especially asian ones. fortunately, the mendozas are one of them. ron's mom is famous for her "better than sex cake" from the last time we were over, and she told me that i lost weight when she saw me this time. she even "convinced" us to take her to pechanga indian casino for a couple of hours. well, if it was her choice she would have stayed waaaaay longer. ron's dad is incredibly generous, leaving breakfast for us before we woke up, and literally running out of gas on the street while doing it. they raised ron and jeff to be generous and exemplary individuals just like them. someday i hope to be a cool parent who's kids and their friends want to take me to do my favorite things, even if it is an hour away. im not saying my parents arent great though, i probably see them in a different way than i see other families like the mendozas.
sea world: we ate almost everything we wanted to, saw almost everything we wanted to. Marveled at the sheer size of the 3700 lb walrus and the big daddy penguin. Admired the beauty and gracefulness of the dolphins, pilot whales, beluga whales, sharks, and shamus. Got fish snatched by a bird when it was for the sea lion who plays with his food before eating it. These dolphins prefer swimming upside-down? Having more cotton candy than we were comfortable eating. Niches cravings. "Hurry up and finish your beer so we can go to class". Carne asada fries. yum.
Oh, we now have the washer, dryer, and fridge installed. this place is finally "liveable"! next up is cable service, divx player, and dining sets... see? it never ends!
